Executive Board
Consultant to Executive Board
Dr. Benjamin has had a distinguished 44 year career and is an experienced community college leader. She was hired by the Contra Costa Community College District in 1991, and over the next 27 years until her retirement in 2016 held a number of positions with the district, including Chancellor. Dr. Benjamin is currently working as Interim Superintendent for Santa Barbara City College.

Mercedes brings a wealth of experience with her as she joins the A2WEND group. She is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker & EOPS Counselor with the Foster Youth Retention Success & Transition Program (FYRST) and Umoja Co-Coordinator at Palomar College. She also serves as a part-time Counseling Faculty with the CalWORKs Program at San Diego City College. Mercedes launched Eight16 Culinary Therapy, which is a Culinary Therapy Program that provides individual and group therapy sessions while cooking a therapeutic meal in the kitchen.
