Mission: A2WEND aims to inspire, empower, support, and equip African American women in their educational and professional pursuits via mentoring, networking, scholarships, and professional development.
Section 1. Eligibility for Membership
The membership application shall be open to anyone who supports the mission and vision of A2WEND. Membership is granted contingent upon receipt of a membership application, board's approval after successful interview, and payment of annual dues. Memberships shall be granted upon a majority vote of the board.
Section 2. Annual Dues
The amount required for annual dues shall be $150 each year, unless changed by a majority vote of the members at an annual meeting of the full membership. The payment of annual dues is due on July 1st of each year. Continued membership is contingent upon, but not limited to, being up-to-date on membership dues.
Section 3. Attendance
All members shall attend 80% of scheduled meetings per fiscal year.
Section 4. Participation
All members shall be actively involved, participate in the planning, and attend at least 50% of all workshops, conferences, and events sponsored by A2WEND on an annual basis.
Section 4. Resignation and Termination
Any member may resign by filing a written resignation with the secretary. Resignation shall not relieve a member of unpaid dues, or other charges previously accrued. Failure to comply with Section 2, Section 3, and Section 4, will result in automatic termination of membership. Membership may also be terminated by a majority vote of the members.
Section 5. Term of Membership
Membership term runs from July 1st through June 30th. Each membership office shall be held for 2-3 years, which is determined by a vote of the majority.
